He is listening to a young man speak. Hearing the tale of this young mans episode when he slept in a dumpster filled with corrugated cardboard. And woke up when the dumpster was lifted and being dumped into the back end of a truck, and how he was able to land in the filled bed of the truck breaking his ankle but able to scramble on top of the truck cab before they dumped the next dumpster on top of him. Of how he beat the top of the cab but no one heard him. And how he wouldn't think of suing the company because ' a private company would have limited resources and I wouldn't want to do that.'
Stories emerge from each of them of near misses. Stories emerge about withholding judgement. Stories emerge about helping out whoever needs help without 'ascertaining worthiness'.
