He is articulate and thoughtful.
Appreciative of the socks and coffee card and blanket.
Always. But there is so much more to him.
He has hopes and dreams. He has regrets and remorse.
He has values and personal integrity and attempts to rectify all that with the street, and the reasons he's on the street.
He had a life, that included relationship with a beautiful young woman, an apartment and pets. All he wanted.
Substances blew that up. 'Couldn't stop.' Lost everything.
The weight of his regret, the weight of the consequences is palpable.
He recently revived someone from opioid overdose. He carries nalaxone, and saved the kids' life. 'You never know someones whole story. You just can't judge.'
And he looks into the camera and when you look past that broken heart you can see his exquisite wholeness.
