Dear Anonymous is an effort to provide resources to folks experiencing homelessness in Portland, Maine. These are resources that will ease their daily experience. It began as a conversation between Joanne and the individuals who inhabited the early, pre-dawn landscape. This became an effort to provide resources directly on the street and resulted in connections in community. The images and narratives that have emerged in Dear Anonymous result from the ongoing relationships between photographer, those living on the street and those willing to provide resources. The most common and useful donation are new socks and gift cards to local coffee shops. Other items include thermal underwear, backpacks, blankets, coats, feet warmers, hats and gloves.
