Dear Anonymous,
There is an effort out here, by some, to keep up appearances. To not lose the dignity of personal hygiene and wearing clean clothes and clothes that fit. It's a challenge to say the least.
He comes this morning with an apology, though none feels necessary. I haven't seen him in a bit and come to find out he rode his bike to Westbrook and took a hotel room for a few days. The first night he fell asleep in the afternoon and didn't wake up until 6 PM... the next day. Street fatigue. Exhaustion. Stress. Recovery.
He apologizes for any behavior lately that was less than gentlemanly.
He also hands me something. It's a bracelet and it has 5 'people like' figures on it. He says,
'That's everyone out here saying thank you.'
So there, Dear Anonymous. Thank YOU.
