Dear Anonymous,
Yesterday packed a punch to the residents of the Coast of Maine. This resident, on the street, was drenched. Wind gusting to 55 mph in the early morning. A Dear Anonymous donated this incredible wool blanket complete with a hood, big enough to wrap around all his back pack and gear. Despite it all he manages a smile. A thank you.
Inside the coffee shop a familiar face entered. He was shaking. One reason was because he was drenched to the bone without a coat. Teeth chattering. Hands fluttering like birds that try but cannot take off. The hooded blanket went from one man to this next....their agreed hierarchy of needs established.
Got him some warm layers. Dry, warm socks and a coffee card; the promise of a hot coffee. Coffee cake.
In the back are two very quiet men. Each have expressed suicidal thoughts this week. They accept the socks. A smile. A coffee. My heart beats well to see them.
Thank you Dear Anonymous.
