This is his way of saying thank you for the handknit hat and mittens. He was so happy as he picked up a neck warmer, socks, a back pack and warm fleece layers recently donated. He must have said thank you 4 times as he organized his gear and pocketed a coveted coffee card and muffin. In this moment, at least, life was good...or at very least, good enough.
'Wow.', he said, '...they knit these for US? That's so cool.'
I will add that this is someone who came across as a bad*ss when we first met. I never imagined how softly he would receive all this and how willing he would be to show gratitude. But I'm learning.
